  1. Tell your friends about this website and what you learned here. Become a leader by having your friends follow your environmentally friendly actions.
  2. Tell your teacher you want to learn more about this topic. There are many different lessons, field trips and volunteering opportunities that your class can sign up for.
  3. With your parent’s permission, choose to walk or ride your bike to school and soccer practice.
  4. Never dump anything that you wouldn’t want to drink or swim in onto the street, down a storm drain or into a drainage ditch.
  5. Clean up after your pet. Flush your pet’s poop down the toilet.
  6. Put garbage and trash in a covered container for pick up. Pick up trash blowing around your home and neighborhood.
  7. With your parents, take an inventory of potential hazardous products and wastes lying around your house. Make sure the items are stored and disposed of properly.
  8. If you see numerous oil spots on your driveway, suggest to your parents to have your family car looked at and repaired.
  9. Ask your family to recycle motor oil and other fluids from the car or lawn mower.
  10. Ask your family to wash the car on the grass instead of the driveway so that the soapy water does not run down the street.
  11. Create a compost in your backyard. A compost can be easily created by piling yard clippings, egg shells and vegetable and fruit rinds in a designated area.
  12. Keep leaves and grass clippings from blowing into the street or down a storm drain.
  13. Conserve Water. Ask your family to water your lawn at dawn or dusk since it is the coolest part of the day. Turn the sink faucet off when brushing your teeth
